The council rules
The council page says Bristol's recycling centres accept up to 1 sheet or 25kg bags of bonded asbestos per week, and that it will not accept unwrapped asbestos. The Bristol Waste Company charges £11 per bag or sheet. You pay when you book your slot. The council page gives a maximum sheet size of 10ft by 4.5ft (3m by 1.5m), and also lists a free allowance of one sheet of asbestos or plasterboard per visit, so ask what you will be charged. See the tip booking guide.
Wrapping
The Bristol Waste Company page says asbestos "must be double wrapped in heavy-duty polythene and completely sealed". It must not be mixed with other waste, and staff will not help load it into the skip.
Trade and contractors
Only household waste is accepted at the tips, and business waste goes to a commercial transfer station. If a contractor strips out asbestos for you, they are responsible for taking it away.
Before you touch it
Old garage roofs, shed sheets and soffits might contain asbestos. Do not break, drill or sand anything you suspect. Get expert advice first, because the fibres are the danger. If you are not sure it is bonded, do not take it to a tip.
